Caiques are known world wide for their bold colors and extremely playful personalities. They are commonly referred to as clowns of the parrot world. These parrots are very active little birds requiring a large enclosure. They spend most of their day playing with anything they can find. They are small in size but bold and fearless. They enjoy regular bathes and time outside the cage to explore. A caique is a great choice for apartment dwellers.
Natural Origin: Central and South America.
Life Expectancy: 30 to 40 years provided with proper care and nutrition.
Cage Requirements: Minimum of 30 inch X 24 inch X 36 inch powder coated cages.
Social Interaction: Daily attention required.
Mimic Ability: Moderate.
Breeding: Clutch sizes are usually 3 - 4 eggs, but they are secretive breeders that need to have an “apartment” style nest box for privacy during the breeding season.
