| Chris's Caiman Crocidile "Sweet Tooth". |
This is my pet caiman crocodile named "sweet tooth". He was purchased from a dealer located in Florida back in August of 2009. He is a wedge head caiman usually found in Central and South America. These creatures live in the natural wetlands and marshes where they hunt for a wide variety of different animals and fish. They are opportunistic eaters and will attack any prey they feel they can drown. They grow large and are not suitable for beginners. They can grow up to 5 feet in length and have a matching appetite to boot.
Enclosures for creatures like this are normally custom build to handle to environmental demands of reptiles such a heat gradient and active water pool or lagoon for them to live in. I used a pre formed pond tub to hold the water. I used a wooden frame to build a land basking area for the crocodile to lay out and bask under the heat lamps.
I feed my crocodile once every few days using a thawed mouse. I also provide some feeder goldfish for him to hunt should he get hungry between feedings. Use caution feeding aggressive creatures, remember, you are their food source....They only think of you as food.
